A little more than three years ago, a new church plant and building project were started in Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Moldova. At first, the project made great progress, and the building was enclosed. Then the work came to a standstill.
Without money to continue, the church building remained unfinished, empty, cold, and lifeless. There were no services, meetings, youth gatherings, or children’s events. Prayer and waiting on God became the new plan of action.
Through a unique series of events, Generations Church from Tallahassee, Florida contacted us about bringing a mission team to Moldova. They had a team of 18 people ready to come and serve wherever there was a need.
In mid-March, Pastor Brian Neugent and the team arrived in Moldova for the first time. The team was organized, well trained, skilled, and exactly what was needed for the project in Cuza. God provided material funds, and the church building project began moving forward again.
With such a talented team, the work advanced rapidly. In April, the Cuza Church celebrated its first service on Easter Sunday. After three years of waiting, new life began to spring up again. Today, the church meets weekly for services and ministry.
Almost 5000 square feet. Lots of work to be done by the team. Drywall, electrical, plumbing, stage construction and more.

Max, Troy and Marin. Max became a believer and was discipled by Pastor Marin and the Vulcanesti Church. Now he and his wife lead the new church plant in Cuza.

A view from the front of the church. The new church has a perfect location on the main road of the village. Cuza has approximately 2500 people.

When we first came to Moldova 20 years ago many of the churches had outdoor bathrooms. It’s a new day in Moldova and things have moved inside. Good Progress.

Priorities. Bathrooms first. Happy ladies :).

Building the stage.

Lots of electrical wiring was done throughout the building.

Besides the main sanctuary meeting area, the church has extra classrooms and kitchen and dining areas. All in all the new facility is around 5000 square feet.

Over 200 sheets of drywall were hung. And, some taping and mudding started. Wow!

Lots of drywall to hang. Did I mention the facility was around 5000 square feet?

Heidi getting dusty and dirty at the construction sight :).

Less than a month after the team left, Cuza was ready for their first service. The work will continue but the church is completed enough to begin using. Big progress!

Easter Sunday and the first service in Alexandru Ioan Cuza. Praise God!

Service at the Vulcanesti mother church. About 20 years ago Pastor Marin and his family started the Vulcanesti church. It was one of the first churches in the southern region of Moldova. As of today, they have planted another five churches with Alexandru Ion Cuza being their most recent plant. Thanks be to God!

Pastor Brian and Max sharing in the church service. Pastor Brian always had a timely message from God’s Word for us.

Vulcanesti Church service worship lyrics in Russian. Although Romanian is the national language of Moldova, the southern region, where the Vulcanesti church is located, is predominantly Russian speaking due to the Soviet years.

Heidi and some of dear sisters from the Vulcanesti home church.

Thank you Generations Church team for loving Moldova and Alexandru Ioan Cuza.

Thank you Pastor Brian, missions team and Generations Church. It was amazing how God put everything together and we give him the praise. You have made a difference in Moldova and our hearts are full of gratitude.

Spring is a beautiful season in Moldova—a time when the country comes alive with renewal, growth, and new life. From farm fields and rolling hills to forests across the country, life is everywhere.
That same new life is being seen in Alexandru Ioan Cuza. What began as a church project three years ago, then went dormant because of a lack of funds, is now alive again with weekly services and ministry activity. God is at work in this community.
In the coming months, we will host three more mission teams and begin three new church projects: two new church buildings and one purchased facility that will be restored. Each project will serve an unreached area and create new opportunities for ministry in Moldova.
Before returning to the United States from August through December for itineration, our goal is to help these church efforts progress far enough for services and weekly ministry to begin.
We do not often make large appeals, but at this time we need your help. Any financial gift or extra donation will be sincerely appreciated and immediately put to work in these new church projects.
Springtime is here, and Moldova is alive with opportunity. Thank you for loving Moldova with us and through us. Every day we wake up in Moldova is a privilege.
God bless you,
Troy and Heidi Jo Darrin
